Conservative Blogger: Why I'm Voting for Mitt Romney...
I couldn't agree with this post more. I also was completely committed to supporting Romney after watching him speak. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to see him in person, but after watching several complete speeches, not just sound-bites, I came away convinced that Mitt is the best qualified person in the race.

Gay Marriage
Mr. Romney agrees with 3000 years of recorded history.
He disagrees with the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts.
Marriage is a sacred institution between a man and woman and our Constitution and laws should reflect that. We must remember that every child deserves a mother and a father. Like Mitt, I believe each child in America has the right to have a mother and a father.
Mr. Romney recently said “It’s unfortunate that those who choose to defend the institution of marriage are often demonized.”
I am deeply touched by Mitt’s statement.
Hazing in the U.S. Army Infantry Bootcamp is tiddly winks compared to the Hazing liberals hand out if anybody stands up and defends their conservative values in the state of Massachusetts. I can personally attest that defending the traditional definition of marriage in Massachusetts is essentially considered criminal behavior.
May the next President of the United States reflect the values of those that founded this Country and not the values of an extremist sect of the population.

On my blog (http://camp2008victorya.blogspot.com) I recently wrote the following in a column about a Republican presidential candidate: "If [he] wants to get into the White House on anything other than a visitor's pass, he had better start choosing an absolutely dynamite running mate." I then quoted another blogger who said, "It's time for him to start taking some risks."
Although the above remarks were made about another candidate (one named Mike), they apply also to Mitt Romney. What good does it do for a man to gain the Republican nomination . . . only to lose the in the general election?
LDS people are known world-wife for their sobriety, and it's important to take a very sober look at the political scene. In several polls, a "generic" Democrat (basically anyone who's not under indictment) gets about 52% and a generic Republican gets about 39%. Almost every political expert who's not a member of a Republican candidate's campaign staff believes the next President of the U.S. will not be Mitt Romney, but rather Hillary Rodham Clinton.
The fact that some friends in Provo or St. George or suburban Las Vegas can't abide Hillary Clinton is not a sign of national trends. A recent poll indicated that 92% of the American people are willing to vote for a "qualified woman."
Gee, I wonder exactly which "qualified woman" they had in mind?
For some months, several conservative political activists have been trying to turn this situation around. A Colorado Springs college student (Adam) did some serious research into possible choices for vice-president that would significantly strengthen a Republican ticket.
I reference Adam's blog below. I'll also reference the newest Blogger for Palin ("Kazoo") below.
The person he came up with was Sarah Heath Palin, Governor of Alaska. She was a big winner in an election year, 2006, that was mostly a disaster for Republicans.
I was the third person to join Adam's movement in support Sarah for V-P. Now, there are so many Bloggers For Palin that my blogroll is in technological revolt, so crowded that it's not accepting any more links!
Who is Sarah Palin? She's a woman called (by Fred Barnes in The Weekly Standard) "The Most Popular Governor" (in the U.S.). She's also the woman called "The GOP's Beacon of Hope" by conservative columnist Dimitri Vassilaros. She's received major backing by White House Correspondent and Pulitzer Prize nominee Les Kinsolving. (Links to all these endorsements and many others are on my blogroll.)
As Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin has received approval ratings in the 90s. That means just about everybody likes her except a handful of people who haven't been paying close attention.
How does she stand on family values? She spends little time talking about them and a great deal of time practicing them with her husband and four children. She's cited consistently as an elected official who lives up to the highest ethical standards.
But why not just let Mitt or another nominee make the decision? The problem is that candidates are so exhausted by winning the nomination that they choose the names almost out of a hat.
Frankly, the Republican Party has a dismal record in choosing vice-presidential candidates. Richard Nixon got elected twice with Eisenhower, and later resigned because of Watergate. His V-P nominee, Spiro Agnew, had resigned previously because of his accepting bribes and laundering money. Dan Quayle? Well, as one of his opponents said, he was "no JFK."
If you can recall even the names of the running mates of Gerald Ford (Bob Dole), Barry Goldwater (Bill Miller) and Bob Dole (Jack Kemp), then you qualify for a Gold Star.
But don't these nominees help the presidential candidate carry important "swing" states? No, they never do. In 1968 Agnew was supposed to help Nixon carry Maryland, and the Democrats won it. Dick Cheney didn't help GWB carry Wyoming, which will go Democratic when Rio de Janeiro freezes over.
I urge you to take a quick look at Gov. Sarah Palin -- and then, if you wish, an extended look. On my site (http://camp2008victorya.blogspot.com) you'll find links to the short Wikipedia bio (which is accurate), the Fred Barnes article, and many others. On my blog, I've written approximately 25 columns on Sarah.
One of the most useful things you can do is to check out "Kazoo's" new column on why he decided to back Sarah. It shows the process of thought that many people have gone through.
What action do we want from you? Our hope is that you will endorse Sarah (and others like her) for high offices, elective and appointive, in the next Administration. In endorsing Sarah, you will not be writing anything in stone. You always have the option of going in another direction.
However, we hope you'll join our movement and stay with it right until Sarah Palin gets the nomination.
Thanks very much for your interest. We hope you'll take a few minutes to acquaint yourself with this remarkable woman, Sarah Heath Palin, America's most popular elected official.

If Mitt Romney wants to be a Reagan Republican I think he should pick a Reagan appointed Republican as his VP. As I watched the Morgan State University debate that Mitt declined to attend I noticed for the 1st time the only Republican that espouses true conservative values and was pleasantly surprised. Alan Keyes would make a great VP and I think he would put Mitt over the top against a Hillary-Obama ticket. After all it was Reagan who said about Keyes' job as ambassador he "did such an extraordinary job ... defending our country against the forces of anti-Americanism." Furthermore, Reagan continued,"I've never known a more stout-hearted defender of a strong America than Alan Keyes." Sounds to me like a quality choice. I hope Mitt will consider him despite Keyes' criticism of Romney in the past.
Great coverage! Mitt is definitely the man for the job. Please check out www.MatchingForMitt.com to make contributions to him count twice!
As a Florida resident I have felt betrayed from the Florida primary election result. I wish that all Americans from the east coast to the west could see Mitt Romney as the great man that I know him to be. Our great nation deserves the best and all that we can give it. Today Mark Levin of the National Review has published a well articulated, concise and very poignant article highlighting how we must unite behind Mitt Romney for the better of our country.
